Which of the two major parties will take the most credit for the Great Recession?
A CNN/ORC poll of 1,000 adults found the Republican Party has taken the most blame for the recession.
The poll, conducted May 5-10, shows that among Republicans, just 37 percent think the GOP was responsible for the economic downturn, while 47 percent say Democrats did the same.
Democratic voters are much more divided, with 46 percent blaming the Democratic Party, while 44 percent say Republicans.
The CNN/Orc poll of 2,004 adults was conducted May 12-17.
The sample of registered voters included 1,007 Republicans and 1,004 Democrats, and the margin of error is plus or minus 3.6 percentage points.
